Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions, and we have answers!

Does acupuncture hurt?
Generally acupuncture (performed by a registered acupuncturist) is quite gentle. Most of what you feel is the practitioner’s hands gently touching your skin, the needle itself is mostly painless, however there is sometimes a momentary sting to some points. Other sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a dull ache are normal responses to acupuncture, and are an example of the Qi (energy) being activated in the point.

If you do not wish to have acupuncture, you can still become a patient and just take herbal medicine and supplements.

is my acupuncturist fully qualified?
Yes, all our acupuncturists have obtained a 4 year bachelor degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and are members of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association, members of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. They also have additional degree qualifications in healthcare.
How long will it take to get pregnant?
Your fertility journey is unique, and your treatment schedule will be unique to you as well. We will be able to guide you in your first couple of sessions in terms of treatment plan. While we can never know the future, following your treatment plan will help to improve your chances of conception. Your treatment can be adapted to natural conception or to work alongside assisted reproductive technology (ART). Treatment plans can be as simplified or detailed as you would like, we will always work with your goals in mind.
How much will my appointment cost?
Initial appointments are $175 with Lisa and $225 with Kim and last for 75-90 minutes (male patients can book 1 hour appointments for $140). Follow-up appointments are $110 and last for 45 minutes. Herbs and supplements are additional.
Can i be a patient if i live outside of sydney?
Yes! We have patients all over the world. You can become a patient by booking an online consultation. Payment for online consultations is taken before the appointment. Health funds may not allow you to claim the appointment, please check with your fund first if this is a concern.
Should my partner have an appointment too?

Generally this is a good idea if sperm testing has shown any abnormalities or poor sperm quality. We can advise you during your first session whether your partner needs to book an acupuncture appointment too, however basic advice is always given during that session that can apply to both partners. If you are from a same sex couple the person being treated depends on factors such as who is having egg collection and who is going to be pregnant. Please get in touch with us directly for more advice.
